Prepare to brave the wasteland and stake your claim in this exciting crossover adventure. Fallout is a product in the Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond series, that was released by Wizards of the Coast on March 8, 2024.[2][3][4] This is a cross-over product based on the Fallout series, a media franchise of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games and later action role-playing games created by Tim Cain from Interplay Entertainment, published by Bethesda Softworks (BSW). The series' first title, Fallout, was released in 1997. The release of the Fallout set coincides with the start of a television adaptation of the game. The four preconstructed Commander decks take players to a post-nuclear alternate reality. Each represents one of the wastelands and its many colorful factions.[5][6] Storyline The series is set during the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd centuries, and its atompunk retrofuturistic setting and artwork are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s United States, with its combination of hope for the promises of technology and the lurking fear of nuclear annihilation. In the years after the Great War, the United States devolved into a post-apocalyptic environment commonly dubbed "the Wasteland". The Great War and subsequent nuclear Armageddon had severely depopulated the country, leaving large expanses of property decaying from neglect. In addition, virtually all food and water are irradiated and most lifeforms have mutated due to high radiation combined with mutagens of varied origins. Despite the large-scale devastation, some areas were fortunate enough to survive the nuclear apocalypse relatively unscathed, even possessing non-irradiated water, flora, and fauna. However, these areas are exceedingly rare. With a large portion of the country's infrastructure in ruins, necessities are scarce. Barter is the common method of exchange, with Nuka-Cola bottle caps providing a more conventional form of currency. Most cities and towns are empty, having been looted or deserted in favor of smaller, makeshift communities scattered around the Wasteland. The Vaults are survival shelters designed by the Vault-Tec Corporation to supposedly protect a selected fragment of the United States population. However, the main purpose of the Vaults is to experiment on the American population to conduct scientific research. Gangs of bloodthirsty raiders, tyrant super mutants, irradiated monsters, and deadly robots roam the Wasteland. Humanity has formed several factions that are striving for survival. From those locked away in the pre-war vaults to new groups looking to rebuild society anew. Marketing Fallout is available in four Commander decks and in Collector Boosters. The four 100-card decks contain 154 new cards in total (37-41 per deck).[3] All reprints feature new Fallout themed art (#155-316). The basic lands (including "isometric lands") are #317-326. The Collector Booster features all alternate art showcase versions of the cards in the decks (no new cards). Twenty-six cards with the Pip-Boy card frame are #327-353. Of those, nine are skinned cards whose mechanical counterparts are not found in the Commander decks. Nine borderless cards have a Vault Boy mascotte themed card frame and comic book art style and are numbered #354-362. Extended art cards are #363-~525. Besides traditional foil versions, the Collector Boosters also feature surge foil versions of the described treatments (~#529-1056). Serialized Bobbleheads with the double rainbow foil treatment are #1057-1063. The Display commanders are #1064-1067. The release card is #1068. [7] The set is accompanied by three themed Secret Lairs. Serialized Bobbleheads Serialized versions of the seven Bobbleheads in double-rainbow foil may appear in Collector Boosters.
