Ravnica: Clue Edition (North America) or Ravnica: Cluedo Edition (worldwide) is a standalone murder mystery game published by Hasbro, set on Ravnica. As the annex set of Murders at Karlov Manor, it was released on February 23, 2024.[2][3] Ravnica: Clue Edition is a product in the Universes Beyond series, and a multiplayer variant to play Magic: The Gathering. Cluedo, known as Clue in North America, is a tabletop game for three to six players (depending on editions) that was devised in 1943 by British board game designer Anthony E. Pratt. The game was first manufactured by Waddingtons in the United Kingdom in 1949. Since then, it has been relaunched and updated several times, and it is currently owned and published by Hasbro. Numerous games, books, a film, television series, and a musical have been released as part of the Cluedo franchise. Several spinoffs have been released featuring various extra characters, weapons, rooms, or different gameplay. The object of the game is to determine who murdered the game's victim, where the crime took place, and which weapon was used. Each player assumes the role of one of the six suspects and attempts to deduce the correct answer by strategically moving around a game board representing the rooms of a mansion and collecting clues about the circumstances of the murder from the other players. About Ravnica: Clue Edition “ Track the Clues, Crack the Case ” CLU Ravnica Clue Edition booster A Ravnica: Clue Edition booster pack. Ravnica: Clue Edition offers a new twist on Magic multiplayer game play.[4] It is a Magic: The Gathering variant, with Clue flavor and mechanical influence, designed by Magic R&D.[5][6] Wizards of the Coast joined with Cluedo to celebrate their 75th anniversary. Reimagined versions of the infamous cast are incorporated in a brand new "Whodunnit"-experience, combining the evidence-gathering sleuth gameplay of Cluedo with Magic: The Gathering's strategic depth and the Ravnica setting.[2] This is not a reskin of the boardgame, but it is a new way of playing Magic designed by R&D that weaves the core concept of Clue with the playing of Magic.[7] The includes both flavorful reprints and new-to-Magic cards. This play experience is self-contained, with everything you need inside the box. You'll find the iconic Cluedo suspects, rooms, and weapons all represented in a ready-to-play experience. Grab 2 boosters, shuffle them together, and let the sleuthing begin; with 8 ready-to-play boosters (each featuring 1 new Rare card), Ravnica: Clue Edition is perfect for 3–4 players but also plays well with 2. Contents CLU Game Set Ravnica: Clue Edition game set. Contents: 8 Ravnica: Cluedo Edition Boosters, each containing a Jumpstart style half deck 21 Evidence cards featuring characters, weapons, and rooms inspired by Clue(do) 4 Hidden Info Screens 1 Evidence Notepad 1 Case File Envelope 1 Card Storage Box The boosters are a selection of 8 out of 20 possible half decks (2 for each Ravnican guilds). A complete collection can only be created by opening multiple boxes.[8] There are 20 new rare cards and 10 new uncommon cards in the half decks (CLU #22-51). The remaining cards are reprints from older Ravnica sets (CLU #52-273). The shock lands are CLU #274-283). Overall, Ravnica: Cluedo Edition contains 252 regular cards (129 commons, 68 uncommons, 29 rares, 11 mythic rares, 20 basic lands)[9]. Box toppers Each copy of the game comes bundled with one of ten possible Ravnica block shock lands as a Box Topper. These feature new art. Promo Launch Party promo: Lavinia, Foil to Conspiracy[10] Play Ravnica Clue cast There are two ways to win: solve the mystery before your rival sleuths or be the last detective standing. Guildmage Boddy lies slain in his manor and it’s your job to determine the manner of his demise; gather evidence when you deal combat damage, then follow the clues to crack the case. Draw from 21 Evidence Cards to determine the killer, murder weapon, and scene of the crime and conceal these in the Case File envelope. Each Evidence card is also a playable Magic card, including 6 classic Clue characters reimagined in the Ravnica setting as Legendary Creatures. The Clue elements of this box can add mystery to any 2–5 player Magic game; play with your own decks and distribute the remaining Evidence Cards for a new case to solve.[11] You play a regular game of Magic, but as you deal damage to an opponent you may ask them for information that they are concealing ("Make a Suggestion"). You can win either by correctly guessing the cards in the envelope, or by killing all your opponents. Like Clue, you are able to ask other players if they have certain suspects, weapons, or rooms in their pile, but here making those guesses is restricted by Magic mechanics: you get the opportunity to do so only when you either deal combat damage to another player, or exile six mana value worth of cards from your graveyard at the end of your turn. You only get one shot when you decide to make your final guess ("Make an Accusation") and look inside the envelope for a potential win, but while guessing wrong here means you’re locked out of that alternate victory condition, it doesn’t stop you from still trying to come out on top by killing your opponents. List of Evidence cards All 21 Evidence cards (CLU #1-21) are also playable Magic cards, with 6 Borderless Legendary Creature cards representing murder suspects, 5 Artifact cards representing possible murder weapons, and 10 Land cards depicting locations that may have been the scene of the crime. To match each location with a Ravnican guild color, Secret Passage, which was a way to allow players to move between rooms located at the opposite corners of the house in the original Clue game, was reimagined as a tenth playable room. Meanwhile, the Revolver was eliminated as murder weapon, in line with the Magic design philosophy.[8] The cycle of murder weapons also appears in Murders at Karlov Manor. The other cards are not Standard legal. # Evidence type Card type Name color 1 Suspect Legendary Creature - Human Cleric Apothecary White {W} 2 Suspect Legendary Creature - Human Advisor Senator Peacock {U} 3 Suspect Legendary Creature - Human Wizard Mastermind Plum {B} 4 Suspect Legendary Creature - Human Warlock Headliner Scarlett {R} 5 Suspect Legendary Creature - Human Advisor Emissary Green {G} 6 Suspect Legendary Creature - Human Soldier Commander Mustard {R}{W} 7 Murder weapon Artifact - Clue Equipment Wrench {W} 8 Murder weapon Artifact - Clue Equipment Candlestick {U} 9 Murder weapon Artifact - Clue Equipment Lead Pipe {B} 10 Murder weapon Artifact - Clue Equipment Knife {R} 11 Murder weapon Artifact - Clue Equipment Rope {G} 12 Scene of the crime Land Ballroom {W}{B} 13 Scene of the crime Land Billiard Room {B}{R} 14 Scene of the crime Land Conservatory {G}{W} 15 Scene of the crime Land Dining Room {R}{G} 16 Scene of the crime Land Hall {R}{W} 17 Scene of the crime Land Kitchen {G}{U} 18 Scene of the crime Land Library {U}{R} 19 Scene of the crime Land Lounge {B}{G} 20 Scene of the crime Land Secret Passage {U}{B} 21 Scene of the crime Land Study {W}{U} Additional unique cards Across the 20 half decks, there are an additional 30 mechanically unique cards, laid out in three double cycles. Mechanics Though Murders at Karlov Manor wasn’t guild themed, Ravnica: Clue Edition is. This is seen in the use of guild watermarks, unlike Murders at Karlov Manor, and the revisiting of multiple guild keywords on new cards: Adapt, Afterlife, Battalion, Evolve, Extort, Mentor, Overload and the now-deciduous Surveil. Collect evidence, Investigate, and Suspect from the main set are present. In addition, multiplayer mechanics Goad and Myriad are reused, and Emissary Green also uses a voting mechanic. Finally, the shield counter makes a reappearance.
